USD or stablecoins sitting in an exchange account are, most of the time, just static numbers. If you've come across Kindo and want to understand what it is, how it works, whether it's safe, and how it charges — this article covers it all in 5 minutes.

What Is Kindo?

Kindo is an automated lending tool that puts your idle USDT and USD to work on the Bitfinex funding market — earning interest daily and auto-compounding. It's not an exchange and it never holds your funds.

What Bitfinex Lending Is

Bitfinex lets you lend out the USD or stablecoins in your account to borrowers on the platform who use leverage in their trading. Your role is the lender, and your reward is interest. This has nothing to do with buying or selling crypto — you don't need to predict market direction, just put your funds into the lending market and let the interest accrue.

Rates are set by the market in real time and fluctuate constantly. Historically, they've ranged roughly between 5%–15% APY, with the potential to go higher during periods of sharp market volatility.

The Practical Hassle of Manual Lending

Operating directly through the Bitfinex interface comes with a few real-world issues:

  • Rates change by the minute: To secure a competitive rate, you need to manually adjust your offers frequently — otherwise only the lower-rate offers get filled
  • Funds are automatically returned upon maturity: If you don't re-offer them in time, the money goes back to sitting idle
  • The lending (funding) interface isn't intuitive: For first-time users, just figuring out the setup takes time

This is exactly what automated lending tools are built to solve — see the full comparison in What Is an Auto-Lending Bot.

What Kindo Does

Kindo connects to your Bitfinex account and takes over the three tasks above: placing offers automatically, dynamically adjusting rates, and automatically re-lending funds upon maturity. After a one-time initial setup, you don't need to log into Bitfinex to manage your lending on a daily basis.

Here's how the funds flow:

  • Funds stay in your own Bitfinex account
  • Kindo sends lending instructions to Bitfinex via API
  • Interest is credited back to your account
  • Kindo then decides whether to continue lending based on your settings

Throughout this entire process, your funds remain in your own Funding wallet and are never held by Kindo.

Security: Your Principal Never Leaves Your Account

Kindo operates on a non-custodial architecture:

  • Non-custodial: Your funds remain in your own Bitfinex account throughout the entire process — Kindo never holds or moves your assets
  • Encrypted keys: Kindo connects to Bitfinex using an API key, which is encrypted and protected
  • Restricted permissions: Kindo uses a permission-limited API Key that cannot withdraw or trade. Even if the key were somehow exposed, no one could withdraw funds from your account

How to Get Started

Complete a few setup steps, then let the bot take over:

  1. Complete Bitfinex identity verification (KYC) — see the Bitfinex KYC Verification Guide
  2. Deposit and transfer your funds to your Funding wallet — see the Bitfinex Deposit and Funding Wallet Guide
  3. Connect a Bitfinex API Key — Kindo uses a permission-limited API Key that cannot withdraw or trade (see the API Key Security Setup Guide for setup steps)
  4. Set your lending currency and reserve amount in Kindo
  5. The bot auto-places and rolls over offers 24/7 — you just check the reports

Fee Plans

A 14-day free trial is available. After that, there are two ways to pay:

  • Subscription (Basic, Pro, VIP): choose a plan based on your lending amount — the closer you are to a plan's upper limit, the better your effective rate of return.
  • Prime: no cap on your lending amount and no monthly fee — instead, 5% of each day's net interest is deducted from a USDT balance you top up in advance. On days you earn no interest, nothing is charged.

Referral Rewards

Refer a friend, and once they start lending on Kindo, you'll earn 1% of their daily realized interest, credited directly — for as long as they keep lending, you keep earning.
